Overview
As a feminist, Pan-African, rapid-response fund, Urgent Action Fund Africa (UAF-Africa) plays a critical role in resourcing African feminist movements to transform inequitable power structures that diminish women’s worth and undermine their rights. Through an activist-centered approach, UAF-Africa provides flexible funding and accompaniment to African human rights defenders, advocates for equitable philanthropic practice, and contributes to cultures of care and healing in the feminist ecosystem. This flexible program support grant enables UAF-Africa to support sexual and reproductive health and rights activism challenging laws, policies, and norms that restrict African women’s access to their full rights, resources, and services. As a feminist organization, the pan-African rapid-response fund, Urgent Action Fund Africa (UAF-Africa) plays a critical role in resourcing African feminist movements to transform inequitable power structures that diminish women's and gender-diverse people’s worth and undermine their rights. UAF-Africa provides rapid-response funding and accompaniment to African human rights defenders. With this grant, UAF-Africa will support LGBTQ+ activists and movements in East and Central Africa to advance sexual and gender minorities’ rights, gender justice, and democratic governance.
