for support to document African evidence-informed policymaking and implementation  
The project will document at least eight African case studies of governments using and institutionalizing evidence. Co-authors include current and former government officials, and practitioners who work closely with African governments. The authors will produce a book, nine policy briefs, and six videos. They will also share lessons with policymakers, practitioners, and researchers.
for the African Centre for the Study of the United States  
The African Centre for the Study of the United States is a newly established research center at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa that is devoted to generating African-based knowledge of the United States as a nation, society, and global actor. This seed funding will support the launch of the center’s research and teaching programs and strengthen its administrative and communication capacities.
for support of a network of national evaluation systems in Africa  
Twende Mbele, hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand, is a peer learning partnership of African governments and regional organizations interested in using monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to strengthen government performance and accountability. The partnership aims to (a) stimulate demand to use M&E among governments, parliaments, and civil society; (b) share experience and learning in the use of M&E; and (c) for a smaller group of core partners, promote active collaboration in developing government M&E systems.
