For Increasing Access To The Copper IUD As Emergency Contraception At Community Health Centers

Community health centers serve large numbers of low-income women but traditionally have not focused on contraceptive services. This grant would support a research project aimed at developing and implementing a curriculum to train community health center providers on the latest contraceptives standards, with a emphasis on the most effective reversible contraceptive methods—intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants—as well as the use of copper IUDs as emergency contraception. The project would be implemented at five or more sites within Alameda County’s Community Health Center network with a similar number of control sites to assess the results of the training.
