The Center for Peace and Security Studies (cPASS) at the University of California at San Diego conducts rigorous, data-driven research on international affairs and U.S. foreign policy, with a focus on new and emerging areas, including cyber conflict. With this grant, cPASS will create a Cyber Escalation Lab to empirically study cyber conflict and develop a diverse cohort of junior scholars to help expand the burgeoning field. This grant supports our Talent Pipeline strategy.

To support University of California, San Diego, to set up a Power Transformation Lab, which will help in facilitating model-based international collaboration for accelerated energy decarbonization. The new initiative will partner US researchers with Chinese stakeholders to generate policy recommendation and technical guidance through innovative model-based collaborations. The lab will emphasize the creation of open and broadly accessible data, models and insights, to target academia, civil society organizations and industry stakeholders. The Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at the University of California at San Diego is a research center focused on promoting scholarship and understanding between researchers in both countries. This grant would allow the Center to continue compiling public information on the governance of Mexico’s public health sector, in addition to producing new research on common health problems in rural marginalized communities. The project will finalize and disseminate the Atlas of Governance of Public Health in Mexico, an online platform including a geo-referenced map, which will make local public health statistics and complimentary health policy information accessible to the public. The project will also focus on outreach to Mexican organizations working on improving public health services for the poor.
