Overview
This grant will support the United Way of Summit County to partner with Akron Public Schools. The Teaching and Learning School District strategy will help Akron Public Schools to foster student agency and engagement in their learning, enlist parent and community support for student learning by sharing information and involving them in key decisions about schooling, and support educators as they adapt to unprecedented circumstances in their practice. This grant will support the United Way of Summit and Medina County in partnership with Akron Public Schools. The district serves over 21,000 students in 45 schools and employs over 1,500 teachers. This grant will help Akron Public Schools to increase their leadership team’s capacity to implement pandemic recovery activities, including equipping teachers and support staff with new knowledge and resources and creating enhanced learning spaces to support students.
