Overview
This grant will fund a project to assist with the implementation of the 2016 Paris Agreement. The work will focus primarily on three areas: First, it will help the Parties to the Agreement identify reasonable compromises regarding the implementation of guidelines, currently under negotiation; second, draft texts will be developed to reflect such compromises; and third, it will assist the Parties and outside groups in thinking through options for sequencing of, and enhancing, nationally determined contributions.

This grant will support states as they harness new federal resources, creating in-house secretariat capacity to provide technical, policy, and communications assistance to states, at scale, and deliver critical flexible funding. The U.S. Climate Alliance is a bipartisan coalition of governors representing 24 states, with more than 60% of U.S. GDP, 55% of the U.S. population, and 40% of U.S. emissions. These governors are committed to driving the nation’s ambitious climate agenda by working in partnership with each other, the federal government, and the international community. The alliance has an important role to play in implementation of federal climate investment laws by supporting state engagement with federal agencies, supporting the development of state decarbonization plans, and supporting effective deployment of federal dollars to drive decarbonization and community economic development.
