Overview
Founded in 1979, United Friends of the Children (UFC) is a Southern California-based nonprofit working to empower current and former foster youth "on their journey to self-sufficiency through service-enriched education and housing programs, advocacy, and consistent relationships." UFC serves more than 1,400 current and former foster youth annually in LA County, an area that is home to the largest concentration of foster youth in the United States. UFC has demonstrated strong outcomes in high school and college graduation rates, employment, and housing stability. This grant will support UFC as it more clearly articulates its model, key metrics, and data collection processes in preparation for a formal impact evaluation. UFC’s goal is to both serve a greater number of youth in LA County, and to create a replicable model capable of nationwide impact.
