Overview
The Pacific Film Archive (PFA) at the University of California Berkeley is one of America’s leading repositories of historically significant cinema. The PFA collects and preserves over 14,000 prints with particular strengths in Japanese, Soviet and Eastern European holdings and includes over 200,000 film related posters, stills, books and documents of critical importance to researchers around the world. In addition to the 3,000 visitors who come to conduct research at the PFA the organization also presents 450 screenings to the public and conducts film education programs for students on campus and in Berkeley schools. With renewed support the PFA will continue to ensure that the marvels of world cinema are both protected and shared broadly with local and international audiences. (Renewal $150,000/3; 2% of program budget).
