Overview
The Tulare County Office of Education supports 103,000 K-12 students in 43 school districts and 177 schools in the Central Valley of California. Tulare County itself is vast and rural, and bordered by a national park. Over 75% of the county’s students qualify for free or reduced lunch and almost 30% are English learners. Access to arts education for Tulare students is limited. A first-time Hewlett Foundation grant would not only support arts education planning within the county office of education; it would also leverage cultural resources in the broader community, by supporting a county-wide strategic arts planning process.
