Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Trust for Indigenous Culture and Health (TICAH) brings attention to the ways in which women's choices are understood, acted upon, and reflected in sexual and reproductive health services and policies in Kenya. TICAH challenges abortion-related stigma and discriminatory practices through a multipronged strategy to reach the most vulnerable women with the least access to critical information. TICAH prioritizes scaling successful strategies to advance self-managed abortion as a time-critical COVID-19 investment. (Substrategy: Local Advocacy)
for support of the MAMA Network
This grant will enable the Mobilizing Activists around Medical Abortion (MAMA) Network to support its national members to share and learn best practices in self-managed abortion advocacy through trainings, information hotlines, and community mobilization. The MAMA Network is a movement of African grassroots activists and feminist groups that work directly with women in communities to increase access to self-managed abortion and sexual and reproductive health and rights. During the grant period, the MAMA Network will democratize access to information and knowledge by ensuring that its materials and hotlines are accessible in over a dozen languages spoken across the region.
