Overview
The Tibetan Association of Northern California preserves Tibetan culture and artistic traditions through education programs and performances. The Tibetan Association’s school serves more than 135 students under the age of eighteen, teaching them the Tibetan language and providing instruction in traditional dances and musical instruments. During the next grant period, the organization plans to lead efforts among Tibetan communities throughout the U.S. to standardize curriculum, strengthen its school administration, facilitate more intergenerational exchange within the community, and continue to provide youth with opportunities to perform in cross-cultural Bay Area community events.

The Tibetan Association of Northern California serves the Tibetan population of the San Francisco Bay Area by teaching, preserving, and transmitting Tibetan arts and culture. The association’s flagship Sunday school program offers year-round classes in Tibetan music and dance, as well as Tibetan language instruction. The association’s programs serve over 250 youth each year, and its membership comprises over 2,500 people. The organization also presents performances and cultural events throughout the year. This grant to the Tibetan Association of Northern California aligns with the Performing Art Program’s Communities strategy.

The Tibetan Association of Northern California preserves Tibetan culture and artistic traditions through education programs and performances. The Tibetan Association's school serves more than 100 students under the age of eighteen, teaching them the Tibetan language and providing instruction in traditional dances and musical instruments. During the next grant period, the organization plans to create a sustainable business model, acquire a new space, and develop a more sustainable organizational structure to support its activities.
