Grants to this Grantee
for a survey of solar jobs in California
On behalf of the California Energy Commission, The Solar Foundation will conduct an over-sample of their national annual Solar Jobs Census in California to collect a range of solar jobs data at the legislative district level. This data will, for the first time, also include information about race and gender, as well as public sector solar-related jobs. This information can be used by advocates, industry stakeholders, and decision-makers in debates on a number of policies that support the renewable energy industry and help Hewlett reach its goals to replace fossil fuels with sustainable fuels like solar and wind.
for general operating support
The Solar Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing the use of solar and solar-compatible technologies worldwide. It conducts and disseminates the National Solar Jobs Census and associated research products, including state jobs rankings and maps showing the number of jobs at the state, district, and county levels. The Census is the most rigorous survey-based count of solar workers in the U.S. The results provide useful educational tools for conveying the social and economic impacts of policies that reduce global warming emissions by replacing fossil fuels with cleaner fuels like sunshine.
