Overview
The Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence Fund (AI Fund) is an effort to develop a shared understanding of ethical considerations and the societal impacts of artificial intelligence and machine learning. This effort recognizes the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in this area and aims to bridge the gaps among various fields such as humanities, law and governance, social sciences, computing, and engineering. The AI Fund seeks to support applied research and scholarship, promote experiments and public awareness, and encourage the development of a learning network among these fields as they relate to artificial intelligence.

for the NewsMatch fund
NewsMatch is a national funding initiative led by the Miami Foundation, with the goal of increasing stable funding opportunities for local nonprofit newsrooms. With the explicit goal of helping outlets strengthen their local news coverage and enhance sustainability in a fast-changing media environment, the fund has provided access to over $15 million in funding for nonprofit news since 2016. This grant will support NewsMatch in providing funding to newsrooms that are producing and telling stories about education in local contexts. (Substrategy: Student and Community Voice)
for the Representative Democracy program
The Miami Foundation is a fiscal sponsor for Representative Democracy, a program to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion in government by reimagining the public-sector workplace and who is at the decision-making table. Core areas of activity support organizations focused on representative government initiatives with grants and technical knowledge to build DEI programs and accountability strategies, while also building in-house research capacity to better understand the drivers and impacts of inequity and the benefits of DEI in the workplace. Alongside a network of advocates and practitioners, the program is co-creating a movement to build a deeper understanding of DEI and system-based solutions.
