The Great Thirst Productions LLC is a production company that acquired the film and television rights to "The Great Thirst," a book written by American West historian Norris Hundley. The Great Thirst LLC, along with its partners Jeff Berg, William Randolph Hearst III, and Michael Fitzgerald, have assembled a product and research team — led by director Matthew Justus — to produce a six-part miniseries documentary project titled after Hundley’s book. This series will explore the history of California through the lens of its relationship with water and intends to contribute to the national conversation about today’s water crisis.
