Overview
In recognition of the Hewlett Foundation’s 50th anniversary, the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions initiative supports the creation and premiere of 50 exceptional works of performing arts. This grant will support "Treemonisha" (working title), a musical that reimagines a lost opera written by historic American composer Scott Joplin. Stanford Live will present the world premiere of "Treemonisha" in the San Francisco Bay Area no later than December 2021.
