for Green Music Center
Green Music Center at Sonoma State University is a multi-discipline presenting organization that offers an array of world-renowned performances for North Bay audiences in its spectacular facilities, which include The Joan and Sanford Weill Hall (1,400-seat concert hall with flexible outdoor seating for an additional 7,000), Schroeder Hall (240-seat recital hall), and an academic wing and hospitality suite. Opened in 2012, Green Music Center is home to the Santa Rosa Symphony, and regularly features other Hewlett Foundation grantees (Philharmonia Baroque, San Francisco Symphony), as well as touring artists and ensembles from around the world. A diverse array of more than 200 annual concerts and recitals, in classical, jazz, and world music, reach more than 70,000 people. Although Hewlett provided a $400,000 capital grant in 2011, this would be the organization’s first operating grant.
