Overview
In order for our grantees to maximize their effectiveness in policy advocacy and civic engagement, there is a growing need for software and other tools to help them track and easily digest the large quantities of data they are increasingly able to gather—through polling, phone calls and canvassing, volunteer organizing, email actions, contact with decision-makers, and other means. The Quad is a cutting edge tool that has been developed in the last year, and is now being used by more than 300 progressive organizations, including a cohort working on climate change an clean energy. The Quad needs further refinement to become more effective at measuring impact, but holds the potential to help both grantees and funders change the current culture of evaluation towards one of continuous and useful learning. A grant to Solidago Foundation will go toward refining the Quad software to be more effective and also building capacity among grantees working on climate issues to be able to use the Quad.
