The Solano County Office of Education supports six school districts and 63,000 students in a diverse county located within the Performing Arts Program’s grantmaking region. A strong proponent of California’s Visual and Performing Arts standards, the County Office partners with other organizations to advocate for the standards and provide professional development to educators in their use of arts-integrated instruction. Funding will kick off county-wide arts education strategic planning, as well as expand the professional development program begun in the last grant period in partnership with the Alameda County Office of Education (a Hewlett Foundation grantee).

The Solano County Office of Education supports six school districts and 63,000 students in a diverse county located within the Performing Arts Program’s grantmaking region. A strong proponent of California’s Visual and Performing Art standards, the County Office partners with other organizations to advocate for the standards and provide professional development to educators in their use in arts-integrated instruction. This grant will be utilized to subsidize the cost to teachers of participating in the Integrated Learning Specialist Program, which will be provided in Solano County by Alameda County Office of Education (a Hewlett grantee), and to develop its own capacity to deliver the training in the future.
