Solano County Office of Education

The Solano County Office of Education provides a range of services that support six school districts and the 64,000 students that attend public school in the county. The agency promotes visual and performing arts education by providing professional development, curriculum support, and strategic arts planning support. This grant for the Solano County Office of Education supports the Performing Arts Program’s Youth strategy through the Policy and Advocacy substrategy.

The Solano County Office of Education supports six school districts and 63,000 students in a diverse county located within the Performing Arts Program’s grantmaking region. A strong proponent of California’s Visual and Performing Arts standards, the County Office partners with other organizations to advocate for the standards and provide professional development to educators in their use of arts-integrated instruction. Funding will kick off county-wide arts education strategic planning, as well as expand the professional development program begun in the last grant period in partnership with the Alameda County Office of Education (a Hewlett Foundation grantee).

This grant will be utilized to subsidize the cost to teachers of participating in the Integrated Learning Specialist Program, which will be provided in Solano County by Alameda County Office of Education (a Hewlett grantee), and to develop its own capacity to deliver the training in the future.
