Overview
The Scholars Strategy Network seeks to improve public policy and strengthen democracy by organizing academic scholars. Founded as a voluntary membership organization in 2011, the network now has over 700 member researchers based at 189 institutions in 43 states. The Scholars Strategy Network helps researchers communicate without jargon to inform public debates. Member scholars share their findings and collaborate with journalists, civic organizations, and policymakers in Washington and in the communities where they live. A general operating grant will help scholars use research to speak out for evidence-based policy, communicate the impacts of major policy shifts, and defend democracy.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
A nonpartisan membership organization of over 1,100 university-based researchers, the Scholars Strategy Network works to improve public policy and strengthen democracy in the United States. The organization fosters the use of research to strengthen communities, improve governance, and spur innovation wherever policy decisions are made—from city halls to state legislatures to Washington. The organization connects America’s researchers with policymakers, civic leaders, and journalists and help scholars contribute ideas, evidence, and thoughtful perspectives to inform public debates.
for support of a program evaluation
The Scholars Strategy Network (SSN) seeks to improve public policy and strengthen democracy by organizing scholars working in America's colleges and universities, and connecting scholars and their research to policymakers, citizens associations, and the media. This organizational effectiveness grant will enable the SSN to undertake a program evaluation to improve its understanding of the value that SSN provides to members and help it identify concrete steps it can take to improve our work.
