Grants to this Grantee
for strategic planning
San Francisco Performances is one of the leading independent presenters of chamber music, vocal and instrumental recitals, jazz and contemporary dance in the Bay Area. The organization presents internationally acclaimed and emerging performing artists, introduces innovative programming and builds new and diversified audiences in the arts through education and outreach activities that also strengthen the local performing arts community. This award from Hewlett will support a leadership transition as the organization seeks to replace founder and Executive Director, Ruth Felt, who is retiring after 36 years.
for general operating support
San Francisco Performances is one of a handful of presenting organizations that have flourished independently, without the sponsorship of a college, university, or major performing arts center. Known for showcasing internationally acclaimed and emerging performing artists in intimate settings, the organization annually attracts more than 20,000 people to more than fifty performances in a variety of venues throughout San Francisco. In addition to its high-quality and adventuresome programming, the organization reaches more than 2,000 students in grades three through twelve through its education program, anchored by an innovative series of multi-year artist residencies. With renewed support, it intends to continue its outstanding multi-disciplinary programming.
