Overview
Given increasing concerns of American cultural fragmentation and political polarization, The Ryan Foundation, a civic education nonprofit, is launching the American National Character Project. American political fragmentation has been accompanied by the growth of national governmental power, administrative centralization, and the decline of authority at the state, local, and individual levels. This project will convene a series of public lectures, followed by an interdisciplinary colloquium, to assess leading factors contributing to the formation of American national character, both historically and in our present age.
