Overview
The Just Transition Fund, a fiscally sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, helps communities hardest hit by the transition from coal create new opportunities for economic growth and good jobs. Over the next few years, an unprecedented opportunity exists to accelerate an equitable economic transition for coal-impacted workers and communities, as recent laws contain unprecedented resources to revitalize their economies. Still, with key federal programs expiring as soon as 2026, there is a short window to act and ensure this funding flows to where it’s needed most. The Just Transition Fund plays a pivotal role in helping coal communities access federal funds to scale community-led economic projects, convening local stakeholders, and expanding its reach by supporting locally led initiatives in at least 40 new communities.
