Pollicy

For The Africa Data Governance Knowledge Hub

Overview
This grant is for Pollicy, a feminist collective of technologists, data scientists, creatives, and academics to support the relaunch and long-term sustainability of the Africa Data Governance Hub — an online platform and community designed to foster and support collaboration among data governance actors and the sharing of data governance resources in Africa. The work will include developing a targeted strategy to grow and sustain the current community — with Pollicy leading the sustainable management of the hub in collaboration with Niyel to strengthen Francophone African participation. The goal will be to create a truly valuable community for data governance actors, scaling up efforts from the pilot, and establishing the Africa Data Governance Hub as the go-to space and premier resource that integrates online and offline engagements to enhance community involvement and participation. Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Pollicy is a pan-African feminist collective of technologists, data scientists, creatives, and academics working at the intersection of data, design, and technology to craft better life experiences by harnessing improved data. Its work focuses on influencing a culture of responsible data use, promoting appropriate data governance practices, and advocating for policies that support an enabling data ecosystem. Pollicy is executing its new two-year strategic plan, which is predicated on two strands of inter-connected work: (a) advancing Afro-feminist data-driven decision making for equitable data governance policies and practices in sub-Saharan Africa and (b) fostering a safe and joyful internet, where women and girls freely access digital infrastructure inclusively and equitably to advance their economic livelihoods in a safe and empowering space. (Strategy: Evidence-Informed Policymaking)
for executive transition and risk mitigation
This organizational effectiveness grant is for Pollicy, a feminist collective of technologists, data scientists, creatives, and academics working to digitally transform service delivery across Africa and craft better life experiences through improved data processes. Pollicy is currently undergoing an executive transition concomitant with an expansion of its work, and so this grant will help Pollicy navigate its leadership shifts, as well as address operational and administration needs as it grows as an organization.
