Grants to this Grantee
for support of strategic litigation for SRHR in Francophone West Africa
This grant to Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Global program will support a project to build the capacity of legal organizations in Francophone West Africa (FWA) to use strategic litigation to promote sexual and reproductive rights. Strategic litigation has rarely been used in FWA to challenge laws and policies that violate human rights but has been a successful approach in other regions including East Africa, Latin America, and the U.S. Through capacity strengthening, convening, and flexible regranting to six legal associations in Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal this project aims to create a network that can effectively use strategic litigation as a tool for SRHR advocacy, overcoming cultural, religious, and legal barriers to set impactful precedents. (Strategy: Global Reproductive Equity)
for general operating support
Planned Parenthood Federation of America provides health care to millions of people nationally each year. It also educates and mobilizes a growing network of supporters to promote and protect reproductive rights; provides legal defense against laws that weaken women’s access to abortion and birth control; and develops technological advances that improve access to, and streamline the provision of, health care and information. (Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
for support of Planned Parenthood Federation of America's international program
Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s international program, Planned Parenthood Global, provides funding and technical assistance for reproductive health advocacy, education, and services through partnerships with nongovernmental organizations in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. This grant will support Planned Parenthood Global’s efforts to develop the capacity of these partners to advocate for better reproductive health policies, particularly in East and West Africa. It is aligned with the Global Reproductive Equity strategy.
