Overview
The demand for high quality professional development in project based learning has risen dramatically in recent years. The Beryl Buck Institute for Education is one of the preeminent organizations to deliver this type of professional development. The Buck Institute has grown from a small, local organization to a nationally recognized group, and is a key member of the Deeper Learning Network. In 2010-2011, over 5,000 teachers and school leaders attended the Institute's professional development workshops or received school-based coaching by national faculty. The demand grew by approximately 50% from the 2009-2010 fiscal year, and that demand continues to grow. The Buck Institute received a Hewlett Foundation grant in November 2011 to create an online tool for delivery of professional development in order to greatly expand the number of teachers the Institute can reach. As such, this grant would allow The Buck Institute to evaluate their business and operations planning in order to increase the scale of their services.
