Overview
Through this grant, Oxfam America and Oxfam Spain will support Oxfam Burkina Faso to strengthen the participation of women, men, youth, and local civil society and civic groups in the management of public finances. Oxfam Burkina Faso and its three local partners will provide relevant information, technical support, and mechanisms for citizens to provide input and track the use of local development mining funds in three municipalities. Oxfam West Africa is a global organization seeking to combat inequality by mobilizing extractive industry revenues toward social spending. This grant aims to ensure that women and other marginalized groups are able to participate, influence, and have equal voice in decision making about how extractive industry revenues are reported, managed, and used in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal. This grant will particularly focus on strengthening the advocacy efforts to push for 30% of development funds from extractive sector revenue to benefit the development and rights of women and girls. This grant will allow Oxfam America to consolidate, ensure the sustainability of, and explore the potential scale-up of six years of collective work with partners to advance a feminist natural resource governance policy agenda in Vietnam, Peru, and Zambia.
