Overview
Other Minds commissions, presents, and preserves contemporary music from around the world through its annual festival of new music and residency for composers, periodic colloquia and presentations for audiences, record label, and weekly radio show on KALW. It owns the world’s largest digital archive of new music, much of which is available free of charge through its website, RadiOM.org. With renewed support, Other Minds would maintain its annual festival and residency, celebrating its twentieth anniversary in 2015; continue to build its archive and online library; and work to increase contributions from its online listenership of more than 16,000 from 130 countries.

for the 2022 50 Arts Commissions for Media Arts
In recognition of the Hewlett Foundation’s 50th anniversary, the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions initiative supports the creation and premiere of 50 exceptional works of performing arts. This grant will support Other Minds in developing and presenting lead artist Trimpin’s “The Cello Quartet.” The project will culminate in a performance that uses mobile electronic sound sculptures, dancers, and music to explore the interplay of humans and machines.
