Opera San Jose is the only company in the United States with a resident company of nine emerging principal artists who receive twelve-month contracts (including housing, medical benefits, and a modest salary) to perform leading roles in the season's four main stage productions of classical opera and new works, such as the West Coast premier of Anna Karenina in September 2010. A renewal grant would enable the Opera to continue to develop and groom emerging artists for sustained international careers, while providing 25,000 South Bay audience members and 20,000 schoolchildren with high-quality opera experiences.

for general operating support
Opera San José is a midsized opera company serving San Jose and the San Francisco Peninsula. The organization reaches 30,000 people each year through a season of four mainstage productions of classical and new work, original film productions of operatic works, and educational opportunities for adults and children. It is known for its dedication to artists and diverse audiences, and is the only opera company in the United States with a resident company of principal artists who receive salaried contracts, including housing and health benefits.
