Overview
This grant supports NRDC’s growing clean energy programs in China, where it is leading the effort to cap new coal capacity. The organization is also advancing reforms in the power sector to promote low-carbon electricity, efficient appliances, and reduced F-gases. The program’s priorities for 2020 are to advance policy at the central and provincial level to reform power markets in ways that promote clean power. The organization is also starting a program to work with key provinces to cap and reduce their dependency on coal-based power generation.

To support NRDC in promoting a subnational clean energy transition in Jiangsu Province. The project will reduce Jiangsu’s coal demand by growing local renewable energy development, and advance mechanisms to increase cross-provincial and cross-regional new energy development.
