Overview
New York Communities Organizing Fund is a nonprofit public education, advocacy, research, and direct services organization, working to improve the economic security and well-being of low-income and people of color communities throughout New York State. Recent accomplishments include launching a campaign to invest in supportive services at City University of New York; building an historic coalition of tenant groups and multi-issue community-based organizations around rent reform; educating communities as part of the environmental and environmental justice movements seeking to stave off climate catastrophe; and helping low-income families receive refunds and tax credits through an IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
