Overview
Formally launched in 1985, the Women’s Legislative Network (WLN) promotes the participation, empowerment, and leadership of women legislators in the U.S. The Network provides a forum to exchange ideas, share experiences and discuss methods to advance agendas and help move women into leadership positions. Today there are 1,784 women serving in state legislatures nationwide, up from 609 women forty years ago but still representing only 24% of all U.S. legislators. The organization is bipartisan, and every female legislator is a member of the Network by virtue of her service. This grant would support two lines of work: 1) WLN's first annual symposium for female legislative leaders in Utah in October 2014, alongside 2) strategic planning to enrich and expand the Network’s work moving forward.
