for workshops on artificial intelligence data center electricity use and emissions
The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is a private, nongovernmental institution that envisions a nation and world in which people understand science to be foundational in their lives. This grant will support the organization to launch a roundtable on climate change and artificial intelligence. The roundtable will provide a forum for ongoing discussion around complex issues related to climate and AI, shared learning about new capabilities and applications, and nimble coordination around emergent issues. It will bring together private sector entities, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, philanthropic bodies, national laboratories, governmental agencies, and various other stakeholders to consider risks and identify opportunities, while complementing and coordinating with other AI forums and advisory groups.
for dissemination of “Equity in K-12 STEM Education” report
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), through its Board on Science Education, appointed an expert committee to develop the consensus report, “Equity in K-12 STEM Education: Framing Decisions for the Future.” With this grant, NASEM will create an expanded set of products and activities to support an extended national conversation around the report and provide a forum for educators at all levels to engage in discussions about how to advance equity in K-12 STEM education leveraging the report’s recommendations.
