Overview
The Muir String Quartet, a premier ensemble currently in residence at Boston University College of Fine Arts, will present a series of concerts in five Northern California towns bookended by master class workshops at Berkeley's La Pena Cultural Center in 2011. The Quartet will feature cellist Gabriela Frank and the repertoire will demonstrate how Ms. Frank made the translation from indigenous South American music to the classical medium. Working with local music presenters the Quartet and Ms. Frank intend to perform for, and teach, amateur musicians, immigrants, prisoners and at-risk teens.
