Overview
In recognition of the Hewlett Foundation’s 50th anniversary, the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions initiative supports the creation and premiere of 50 exceptional works of performing arts. This grant will support Long Now Foundation in developing and presenting lead artist Eve Sussman’s “Naming Names.” The project will culminate in a multimedia performance and installation that connects the Bay Area with the ancient city of Athens and explores the human impulse to assign names to things. This grant supports the Hewlett Foundation’s longstanding commitment to the performing arts in the Bay Area.
