Overview
The Local Public Sector Alliance (LPSA) is a newly formed global professional network for advocates of inclusive and efficient decentralization and localization. LPSA recognizes decentralization and localization are critical for achieving resilient, inclusive, sustainable, equitable, and efficient development. This Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) grant aims to support LPSA to direct greater attention within its membership and Community of Practice on public sector service delivery by elevating the debate on the linkages between multilevel governance and DEI. This grant will support LPSA regional working groups to prioritize local gender budgeting, women’s representation at the local level, and more inclusive local budgetary spending decisions. This grant will also allow LPSA to establish—and subsequently shift the center of gravity within the Alliance to regional and thematic Expert Working Groups, enabling it to bring together a range of voices and interests on different topics across global regions. This grant will further strengthen the leadership of each of LPSA’s nascent Expert Working Groups to promote the inclusion of different voices, gender parity in the leadership of all working groups, and gender representation in all of its public fora.

Local Public Sector Alliance (LPSA) is a network of inclusive governance and localization advocates. LPSA brings together practitioners and scholars worldwide to elevate the global debate on decentralization and local governance through knowledge development, sharing, convening, outreach, and field building. As the potential impact of more inclusive and efficient decentralization and localization is most significant in the Global South, LPSA aims to shift the focus of the Community of Practice from the global level to the regional and country levels, particularly in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. This grant supports LPSA's efforts to strengthen the inclusivity and diversity of its geographic and thematic working groups as they interact with policymakers, practitioners, academics and researchers, civil society organizations, and development partners. This grant will support LPSA's working groups in developing and implementing communications and outreach strategies that improve their reach and impact.
for general operating support
Launched in January 2022, the Local Public Sector Alliance (LPSA) is a global alliance of advocates for inclusive and efficient decentralization and localization. In its two years of operation, LPSA has grown to a network of 1,600 scholars, policymakers, and practitioners working on decentralization in governance across multiple global regions. LPSA seeks to enhance the understanding of decentralization and localization as complex, cross-cutting, and multi-stakeholder reforms. LPSA aims to expand its focus to address multilevel governance constraints on International Women’s Economic Empowerment.
for general operating support
The Local Public Sector Alliance (LPSA) is a coalition of advocates for inclusive and efficient decentralization and localization. LPSA aims to elevate the debate on decentralization and localization by informing, connecting, and expanding the global community of practice and by shifting the focus of the community of practice from the global level to the country level. LPSA activities include the development of knowledge products; ongoing knowledge sharing efforts; the development of online courses; and laying the foundation for field-building efforts, particularly in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa region.
