Overview
KITKA is a professional women’s vocal ensemble dedicated to developing new audiences for music rooted in Eastern European women’s vocal traditions. In addition to preserving traditional folkloric material, KITKA presents traditional material with new arrangements by its vocalists, premieres new music by Eastern European and American composers, and commissions new works. With a wide array of programs — including a Bay Area concert season, artist residencies, CD production of its music, K-12 programs, and national and international touring — KITKA reaches more than 14,000 people each year. Renewed support will ensure the performance, creation, and preservation of exceptional and traditional works of art, as KITKA navigates and implements a new strategic plan.
