Overview
Jamestown Community Center is a youth development organization that provides programs for youth, parents, and families in and around San Francisco’s Mission District. The organization’s artistic programs are rooted in the culture, music, theater, and dance of Afro-Latino traditions. Each year, more than 400 youth are served through more than 290 classes and workshops, and youth perform for tens of thousands of people in large-scale Mission District arts events, such as Carnaval and the Day of the Dead procession. This grant to Jamestown Community Center will support arts learning pods — in-person, intensive arts instruction to elementary-age students during COVID-19 school closures — and advances the Performing Arts Program’s Youth strategy.
