Ipas is a global organization working in more than fifteen countries to strengthen the quality of abortion services within the legal framework and liberalize the policy environment that regulates these services. This grant will allow Ipas to: (a) increase access to quality reproductive health services by training local health providers, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa; (b) collaborate with ministries of health to interpret abortion policy in the broadest way possible; and (c) use research and evidence to advocate for policies to increase access to safe abortion services.

Grants to this Grantee
for support of Ipas' regional strategy in Francophone West Africa
This project will support implementation of Ipas’ relatively new program to address unsafe abortion in Francophone West Africa. Ipas’ strategy for the subregion seeks to train health care providers to provide abortion services safely and advocate for improvements in the policy environment for abortion availability. To improve the quality of abortion services available to women in Francophone countries, Ipas works in close partnership with ministries of health, regional health bodies like the West Africa Health Organization, and a diverse set of research and advocacy organizations.
