Overview
Routinely hailed by critics for developing challenging works of theater and dance about race, culture, and identity, Intersection for the Arts almost always sells out its 75-seat home venue in San Francisco's Mission district. Of the nearly 400 artists involved in last year's programs, 70 percent were people of color. Intersection's audiences are primarily younger than forty and mirror the demographic diversity of the Bay Area.

Grants to this Grantee
for Zoo Labs
Zoo Labs, a fiscally sponsored project of Intersection for the Arts, supports and empowers Bay Area-based musicians and other artists to own and amplify their creative projects. Its work includes the curricular development and delivery of arts business training, public panel discussions with industry leaders, and other services in support of arts entrepreneurs and small business owners. Since 2013, Zoo Labs has conducted 26 accelerator residencies, engaging over 350 mentors to serve over 250 local artists. This grant, in alignment with the program’s Artists strategy, will enable Zoo Labs to continue and evolve its artist support programs.
