The International Women’s Health Coalition and its partners from developing countries support and lead initiatives to influence policies and funding in countries and global agencies to secure the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls. The Coalition’s advocacy strategy has five components: mentor and support younger, emerging leaders and activists from the South; collaborate with other organizations and alliances; build capacity of organizations and leaders in selected countries; engage with staff of U.N. agencies, especially UNAIDS and UNFPA; and provide strategic communications components such as publications, speeches, and online activities to inform policy and program design.

for support of the in-country advocacy global partnership work
This grant will support the International Women’s Health Coalition to sustain and expand its work to advance women’s rights, in particular their sexual and reproductive health and rights. This grant is intended to support the coalition’s grantmaking and technical assistance to organizations in developing countries that conduct advocacy to ensure access to safe and legal abortion in their home countries, and to mitigate the effects of the reinstated Mexico City Policy.
for strategic planning, program development, and strengthening of financial and information systems
The International Women's Health Coalition (IWHC) promotes and protects the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and young people in developing countries. IWHC is going through a leadership transition following the departure of the previous President after more than two decades of service. The new President, Francoise Girard, started her tenure in February 2012. The grant funds would help support transition activities and provide IWHC the opportunity to rethink its strategic positioning and streamline its financial and administrative systems to create a leaner, more efficient organization with a renewed focus on programmatic and communications work.
