for general support
ICG’s mission is to strengthen the international community’s capacity to anticipate, prevent and resolve deadly conflict. Its work includes intensive field research and analysis of specific conflicts and the development of detailed policy prescriptions designed to address them. ICG was the first international organization to expose the violence in Darfur, and it played a major role in bringing this humanitarian crisis to the U.S. public’s attention. ICG also continues to focus on crises in the Middle East, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Iraq, Indonesia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Kosovo, and has established new projects in other corners of the world. Over the next 12 months ICG expects to produce 90-100 reports and briefing papers, covering some 60 conflict-affected regions on four continents, and to engage policy-makers at all levels in thousands of advocacy meetings. ICG will work to establish a foothold in China, with the goal of openning an advocacy office there by the end of the year. Other goals include the deepening of ICG's extremely lean staffing structure and pushing ahead with major advocacy initiatives in the Middle East. The organization’s board is co-chaired by former European Commissioner for External Relations Lord Patten and former Ambassador Thomas R. Pickering.
