Overview
The Digital Intelligence Lab at the Institute for the Future is a new, interdisciplinary research entity producing scholarship and writing at the intersection of technological innovation and political communication. The lab’s work is focused on social media and American politics with a specific concentration on disinformation and political polarization online. This grant will allow the lab to research how AI, automation and algorithms are used in the propagation of disinformation and polarization. The lab will use these funds to produce research reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, and popular writing examining how social media can be used for means both democratically beneficial and civically repressive.
