This renewal grant to the Institute for Fisheries Resources will support its efforts to remove four dams on the Klamath River that have blocked salmon from migrating upstream to spawning grounds. The Klamath River once hosted the third-largest runs of salmon on the West Coast. To secure dam removal, the Institute will work to implement an agreement signed by farmers, ranchers, Native American tribes, and fishing interests in the region. The agreement seeks to meet current water needs related to Native American tribes, agriculture, and fish restoration in the Klamath watershed and once dams are removed.
