for strengthening a citizens' social policy observatory
The mission of Iniciativa Ciudadana y Desarrollo Social (Incide) is to encourage participation of civil society organizations in policy debates, especially those related to economic and social human rights. In practice, the realization of such rights must result in effective access to, and improved quality of, basic services such as health, education, food, housing, employment, and a safe environment. Previous Hewlett Foundation support has enabled Incide to develop and nourish an online Social Policy Observatory that presents and organizes the regulations, policies, and data of social programs to assess the access, availability, and quality of basic public services—information that is key for human rights and budget watchdogs. This renewal grant will allow Incide to keep its database updated, improve public access to online data, develop special thematic reports on core services, and develop an outreach strategy to strengthen dissemination of its work.
