Hudson Institute, Inc.

The Bradley Center for Philanthropy and Civic Renewal at the Hudson Institute encourages foundations and charitable donors to direct more resources toward support of small, local, often faith-based grassroots associations that are the heart of a vital civil society. In its research, writing, and monthly seminars, the Center aims to provoke conversation about the most important—and seldom discussed—issues before the nonprofit sector. It provides practical advice and counsel to funders who are interested in designing grantmaking programs that support civic renewal. In Washington specifically, the centerpiece of the Center’s work is its series of two-hour noontime discussion panels, built around three or four panelists representing a diversity of disciplines, political persuasions, and points of view.

Hudson Institute is a nonpartisan Washington, D.C., research institute devoted to original thinking on policy and political issues of strategic importance to American prosperity and security. The proposed grant would support research and writing by Hudson Institute Fellow Christopher DeMuth on the causes and consequences of the decline of Congress in contemporary politics. The project would advance practical proposals for restoring Congress to robust roles—both within our constitutional balance-of-powers scheme and as a responsible national lawmaking body.
