Overview
Horizons Foundation is a community foundation devoted to increasing the visibility of issues important to the LGBT communities. Well known for its investment in small organizations, Horizons has always given high priority to its arts grantmaking, a subset of its Community Issues program. The Performing Arts Program has partnered with Horizons in this regranting program since 2006, supporting more than seventy grants to small arts organizations and projects. Renewed funding would allow Horizons to continue to reach a diverse portfolio of LGBT-serving art organizations as well as make two-year grants to competitive applicants.

Horizons is a community foundation devoted to increasing the visibility of and addressing issues of importance to LGBTQ people. The organization’s Community Issues grants program supports many types of nonprofits and fiscally sponsored programs given the many needs of the LGBTQ community across the nine Bay Area counties it serves. Each year, Horizons awards approximately 30 grants through the program, of which typically 20%-30% are for LGBTQ art and culture projects with annual budgets of $1 million or less. This grant to Horizons Foundation for its Community Issues grantmaking advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.
