Overview
The High Tech High Graduate School of Education creates an adult learning community that links teacher education to school reform, offering a master’s of education degree, teacher credentialing, and an education leadership academy. The school will enhance its role as a hub for deeper learning practitioners, and it’s Center for Research on Equity and Innovation will continue to develop the use of improvement science as a framework for schools seeking to refocus on deeper learning outcomes and related practices. Development and growth of a distinct field of practitioners and leaders committed to deeper learning is a key element in field building and will help to test theories of diffusion.

Grants to this Grantee
for an online course on deeper learning and a conference for practitioners
This grant would enable the High Tech High network, part of the Program’s Deeper Learning Network, to create a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) as an entry point for teachers worldwide who want to learn more about classroom practices that promote deeper learning. This support would also subsidize a conference on a High Tech High campus in spring 2014 aimed at illustrating the goals, policies, and practices that advance deeper learning on a large scale.
for a national conference for deeper learning practitioners
With this funding, High Tech High, one of our Proof Points school networks, would host the first annual national conference on deeper learning. Its goal will be to build a grassroots support movement for teachers and school leaders who want to deliver deeper learning to their students. All our Proof Points school networks will help lead the conference, along with the Beryl Buck Institute for Education, a professional development provider highly aligned with deeper learning.
