Overview
Headlands Center for the Arts is a multi-disciplinary, international arts center dedicated to supporting artists, the creative process, and the development of innovative ideas and artwork. Each year the organization provides more than 85 artists with residencies, subsidized studio space, public presentation opportunities, and other forms of professional support. Its public programs engage more than 12,000 people each year at its historic campus in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, in close partnerships with the National Park Service.

Headlands Center for the Arts is a multidisciplinary arts center housed at the historic Fort Barry in the Marin Headlands since 1984. Each year it provides residency programs, fellowships, and awards to approximately 100 local, national, and international artists working across all disciplines. Its public presentations — including events, open houses, workshops, nature walks, exhibitions, conversations, and community meals — engage more than 13,000 people annually at its historic campus in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, in partnership with the National Park Service. Support for Headlands Center for the Arts aligns with the Performing Arts Program’s Artists strategy.
