Overview
Each year, Headlands Center for the Arts provides artist residencies, subsidized studio space, and a variety of public programs for more than 11,000 people at its 75,000 square foot campus located in the Marin Headlands. The organization has more than 1,000 artist alumni and serves an additional 75 artists each year with programs that support the creative process and interdisciplinary collaboration. In 2012, Headlands marked its 30th anniversary with several successful public events and fundraising activities that speak to the organization’s strong leadership, highly strategic orientation, and growing visibility. Organizational Effectiveness support from the Hewlett Foundation would enable to Headlands to build on its strengths by developing a strategic fundraising plan that supports its current business plan and goals for continued and sustainable growth. In addition, the plan would inform upcoming lease negotiations with the National Park Service (NPS) and lay the groundwork for an anticipated capital campaign.
