Overview
Golden Thread Productions is the first theater company in the country dedicated to staging works that focus on the Middle East. It defines the Middle East broadly and inclusively, not by geographic boundaries but by the shared and evolving experiences of the people. Each year it reaches 5,000 people through a range of offering that are aesthetically varied, from plays that are politically engaging to those that emphasize cultural traditions for children and families. An Organizational Effectiveness grant for board development would improve the composition, size, and fundraising capacity of the organization’s board of trustees, as well as provide the organization with a new pool of potential prospects for the board to cultivate.

Based in San Francisco, it engages local, national, and international networks of theater artists to serve Bay Area communities by supporting the development and production of innovative works, and promotion of the rich texts and diverse performance styles of the Middle East. Its suite of programs serves more than 7,000 people each year, offering authentic voices and alternative perspectives of the region. Support for Golden Thread advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.
